The program works across two core areas:

1. Responding to global authoritarian threats – Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are acting in concert, if not always in coordination, to undermine US global leadership and to exacerbate and exploit fissures in the politics of the democratic world. To respond to these threats, the Program provides policymakers with actionable recommendations for defining, denying, and deterring this acute and evolving threat, while rebuilding and rebalancing a united transatlantic front.
2. Engaging next-generation leaders – Global authoritarians have taken aim at the values, institution,s and relationships that have underpinned the power and prosperity of the transatlantic democratic community, trying to make the world safe for autocracy. To counteract this challenge, the Program hosts a suite of short- and long-term fellowships, designed to identify and support important emerging voices from front-line states in the defense against authoritarian aggression and integrate them in shared transatlantic policy dialogues.
