Following the 78th anniversary of the end of World War II, and as Russia continues its brutal war in Ukraine, Victory Day has transitioned from a symbol of international unity to another ideological fault line within Europe. Pavlo Kazarin, Crimean author of The Wild West of Eastern Europe and member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2022, sits down with Elena Davlikanova to analyze the symbolism of Victory Day amid Russian aggression and how this impacts Ukraine’s vision of victory.
