Milana Mazaeva is an in-residence fellow with the Democracy Fellowship program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). Milana is a Chechen journalist from Russia, born and raised in Grozny. She began her career as a journalist on Chechen television in 2009. She has worked with such media as the independent Russian TV channel TV RAIN, the BBC Russian Service, The New Yorker, Le Monde, and others.

Milana has a bachelor's degree in German language teaching and a master's degree in Journalism.

She is a 2022 Alumnus of the Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship, which implied 10 months of study at the Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.

At CEPA, she covers events in the North Caucasus republics, Southern Russia, as well as Georgia and Armenia. Milana is interested in the topic of ethnic minorities in Russia.
