September 7, 2021 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am

Event Overview

In an era of renewed strategic competition, the eastern Mediterranean is a key contested arena.

In an era of renewed strategic competition, the eastern Mediterranean is a key contested arena where the power of the United States, European Union, Russia, and China overlaps across political, military, economic, and information domains. As tensions in the region rapidly evolve, what transatlantic interests are at stake? How can the U.S. and its allies and partners in Europe best position themselves to address internal challenges within the region and fend off external threats from Russia and China?

This high-level panel of thought leaders seeks to explore how great power competition is transforming the eastern Mediterranean now and into the future, and how this critical but underserved region should fit into the transatlantic community’s collective agenda at the dawn of the Biden administration.
