Wendy R. Anderson is a Senior Fellow with the Transatlantic Defense and Security program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). She is a national security and technology executive who provides strategic counsel to a select portfolio of emerging defense technology companies in the US and Europe. With over two decades spanning the US government, NATO, and pioneering technology companies, she brings a rare blend of national and international security policy expertise, operational acumen, and business leadership to advance technology-driven strategies that support critical US and Allied missions.
Most recently, she was Senior Vice President, National Security, where she helped grow the business across the USG and NATO, advised leadership on USG strategy, and architected key government relations efforts.
Prior to Palantir, she worked at the US Department of Defense, as chief of staff to Deputy Secretary Ash Carter and deputy chief of Staff to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies across defense missions. Later, she served as Chief of Staff to the US Department of Commerce, advancing innovation and investment priorities at the intersection of economic growth and national security. Previously, she spent six years in the US Senate, on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
Anderson’s commentary has appeared on ABC News, FOX News, and MSNBC, and she has written for POLITICO Europe, The National Interest, Defense One, and Breaking Defense, to name a few. She is a two-time recipient of the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service, the Department’s highest civilian honor.
She holds degrees from Hendrix College and Harvard University and completed all graduate coursework at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Anderson lives in Washington, DC, with her family, including Peanut (a rescue chiweenie), who runs the household.
