Dr. Ulpia-Elena Botezatu is an expert in space security, specifically on the interplay between governance, protection of critical infrastructure, and outer space security. She serves as a delegate to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, the European Space Agency Program Board on Space Situational Awareness, the EU-SST Partnership’s Steering, Coordination, and Security Committees, the International Standardization Organization on issues related to Space Traffic Management and Coordination, the International Academy of Astronautics, and the NATO Science and Technology Organization. Additionally, Dr. Botezatu manages numerous research projects centered on space situational awareness, space surveillance, and critical space infrastructure. She has also worked with Romanian governmental bodies and committees on space security.
