Western nations working together to counter Russia’s invasion of Ukraine need to reach beyond Europe or risk losing the battle of ideas ignited by the conflict, one of the European Union’s most senior diplomats warned.

The US is committed to Ukraine and to ensuring Russia pays a heavy price for its aggression, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said.

The West has been “intoxicated by peace and prosperity” and should have listened earlier to warnings about Russia, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.
