Mikhail Komin is a Future Russia Fellow with the Democratic Resilience Program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA).
Prior to joining CEPA, he was a visiting fellow with the Wider Europe program at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) in 2023-2024 and has been an editor on European politics at Russian independent media in exile "Novaya Gazeta Europe."
Mikhail Komin was a senior expert at the Moscow-based Center for Strategic Research, working on a project to develop a new socio-economic strategy for Russia. In 2019, he joined the Center for Advanced Governance, a think-tank conducting research on Russian economic, social, and digital policies and advocating for good governance, transparency, and open data. He was also a member of the Survey Russian Elites advisory board (2018-2021) by Hamilton College in the US.
Komin holds a postgraduate degree in political science from the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg. His research focuses on policymaking processes in non-democratic contexts, as well as on the structure of the Russian elites and bureaucracy and Russian government data policies.
