Larry Hirsch serves as Chairman of CEPA. Hirsch is also the Chairman of Highlander Partners, L.P., a private equity firm that specializes in investments in the U.S. and Central Europe. Highlander Partners maintains offices in Dallas, Texas, Warsaw, Poland, and Bucharest, Romania.
Hirsch served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Centex Corporation, a Dallas-based, NYSE-listed company that was one of the nation's largest homebuilders, mortgage loan originators and general building contractors. He has been Chairman of Eagle Materials, Inc, a diversified manufacturer of construction products and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Southdown, Inc., a Houston, TX-based oil and gas exploration company and cement manufacturer.
Larry has participated as a director of many publicly-traded companies, including Belo Corporation and Commercial Metals Company. From December 2008 until March 2012, he was a government-appointed director of Freddie Mac. Larry is an Honorary Director of the Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas and was a member of the Board of Directors of Methodist Hospitals in Dallas for many years.
He has been awarded the Pacesetters Award from the Black State Employees Association of Texas, the Award of Excellence from the Dallas Historical Society and an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Laws from the University of Dallas. Mr. Hirsch was admitted to the Order of the Bene Merito by the government of Poland and received the Founders Award from Johns Hopkins SAIS.
Hirsch holds a Master's Degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), as well as a J.D., cum laude, from the Villanova University Law School and a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
