Barbara Paoletti is a Senior Fellow with the Tech Policy Program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA).

Paoletti serves as a senior advisor at the US Department of State, where her work sits at the intersection of technology and national security.

She spent more than a decade in the department's civil service developing and implementing US foreign and security policy, with a focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI) policy and guidance, secure digital infrastructure, and economic security. In those roles, she worked across the interagency and with industry and international partners.

Paoletti's earlier experience includes extensive work on defense and counterterrorism policy and programs across Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as service with the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. She is fluent in Italian and proficient in Spanish, and is based in Washington, DC.
