CEPA Internship Program

The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) internship program is designed to provide a variety of professional opportunities and exposure to rising young leaders in the transatlantic space. The internship program is unpaid and is offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer both virtually and in-person.

Interns will have the opportunity to attend internal team meetings, professional development workshops, and DC-based events.

Applications for the Fall Internship Program are accepted on rolling basis with a priority to applications submitteed before Friday, July 7th.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day program activities;
  • Help with planning and implementing program/ team events, workshops, and webinars;
  • Executive assistance and scheduling for program/ team staff;
  • Provide support with research for program/ team publications, projects, and convenings;
  • Assist the program/ team with outreach to partners and maintain regular contact with CEPA’s network;
  • Address administrative and research pop-up requests from staff; and
  • Produce weekly newsletters on the latest in the transatlantic dialogue, highlighting the political, economic, and security developments.

Application Instructions

Interested candidates for the Fall Internship Program should submit their applications by submitting a resume, cover letter, and a brief (2-4 pages) writing sample by email to internship@cepa.org at there earliest convenience, with priority given to applicants who applied before Friday, July 7th. Please indicate which program/ area you would like to apply to in your cover letter and email subject line. Additionally, in your cover letter, please indicate your weekly availability as well as the semester for which you would like to apply.

Due to the large number of applicants received, only applicants chosen for an interview will be contacted.

Internship Programs

Interns support and work alongside CEPA’s three programmatic areas of Transatlantic Defense and Security, Democratic Resilience, and the Digital Innovation Initiative. Interns may also work closely with CEPA’s Executive Office, External Affairs, or Business Development team.
Democratic Resilience
The Democratic Resilience (DR) intern(s) will work closely with the program to meet their aims of supporting policymakers – in government, civil society, business, and the media, in North America and in Europe – in achieving three vital aims.

The External Affairs (EA) intern(s) will collaborate and support the team’s work to ensure that CEPA has a strong digital presence across platforms and is producing a high quality of events, in-person and online.

Digital Innovation Initiative
The Digital Innovation Initiative (DII) intern(s) will work with the program to explore trends in tech policy in Europe and the US to advocate for transatlantic unity on digital regulation bringing together governments, companies, and expetise.

The Business Development (BD) intern(s) will work closely with the BD team to support the organization’s robust portfolio of donors including government, corporate, and foundations.

The Transatlantic Defense and Security (TDS) intern(s) will work alongside the program to shape policy debates, builds communities of interest, and develops policy solutions to the 21st century’s most pressing transatlantic security issues.

Executive Office
The Executive Office (EO) intern(s) will support the EO team on various projects and needs relating to CEPA’s President and CEO, Dr. Alina Polyakova. The EO team works across all programs and operational aspects of CEPA.
