H.E. Krišjānis Kariņš

The Prime Minister K. Kariņš was born on 13 December 1964. K. Kariņš was confirmed in the post of the Prime Minister by Saeima, the Parliament of Latvia, on January 23, 2019. From 2009 to 2019 K. Kariņš was a Member of the European Parliament. K. Kariņš has been the Minister of Economics of Latvia from 2004 to 2006 and a Member of the Saeima (Parliament) from 2002 to 2009. Before starting his political career, Dr. K. Kariņš was a successful entrepreneur. K. Kariņš has acquired PhD degree at the University of Pennsylvania, the USA, in the linguistics specialty. The Prime Minister is fluent in Latvian, English and German, and also speaks in French and Russian.
