How has the Czech Republic responded to the coronavirus in an era of geopolitical competition?

Event Overview

By: Amelia Martin

The Czech Republic was an early advocate and enforcer of a comprehensive strategy to contain the covid-19 pandemic. This timely reaction allowed the country to lift most of its restrictions by the end of May. At the same time, malign actors are intensifying their interference. Rumors of murder plots against Prague mayors and increased disinformation campaigns are stoking alarm.

CEPA hosted a conversation with Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček on the Czech response to the coronavirus in an era of geopolitical competition. The discussion covered the country’s successful containment of the pandemic, hostile state activity, and opportunities for transatlantic collaboration to strengthen security and boost prosperity.
